Situated in the forest-rich region of Chandrapur, the academy’s mission aligns with Maharashtra’s broader vision for sustainable wildlife and natural resource management. With state-of-the-art facilities, a curriculum aligned with contemporary technological advancements, and a strong emphasis on biodiversity conservation, the Chandrapur Forest Academy has become a leading institution for forestry training and research in India.
It was during this period, that the Central government decided to increase the scope of the institution, as a result, the Central Forest Officers’ College was established in 1976. The institute trained newly recruited forest officers from all the states of India.
In the year 1991, the administration of the institute was handed over to the Maharashtra Government. After 12 years, it was renamed ‘Chandrapur Vana Prashikshan Sanstha’ i.e. Chandrapur Forest Training Institute. It was December 2014 when the training institute was declared a ‘Vana Prabodhini’ i.e. Forest Academy.
With the objective of forest administration, development and management of sustainable wildlife and natural resources, the curriculum of the academy is developed in tune with technological advancements in the field. The academy is the most functional amalgamation of such training institutes from all over the country.
